See photos now on site.  An innovative new business venture is set to benefit students at Ludlow College by giving hands on experience in the field of travel and tourism.  Terry Jones Travel, who have an office in Church Stretton are expanding into Ludlow and will be using the College’s Castle Square premises to open to members of the public.  The premises were refurbished with help from Shropshire Council’s Market Towns Initiative.

The launch will take place (today) Friday 1 March at 10.30am at the Castle Square premises next to the College’s High Hall site.  This will be followed by a VIP reception in Mortimer’s Restaurant where hospitality and catering students will welcome guests.

Theresa Houghton, Director of Operations at Ludlow College said, “We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Terry Jones Travel.  Students will have a unique opportunity to mix their theoretical knowledge with positive hands on experience in a real work setting.  Employers will also benefit by being able to recruit experienced and well qualified young people in this important economic sector.”

The new agency will employ fully qualified travel agency staff and be open six days a week.  Travel and tourism students will receive customer service training as well as being introduced to industry standard booking systems.

"We first set up TERRY JONES TRAVEL in Church Stretton, where we have been trading successfully as an independent travel agency for over 20 years. We are now pleased to be involved with Ludlow College in the opening of our new travel agency.  In addition to offering a personal, professional, and totally independent travel service to the people of Ludlow, we will be providing valuable training and work experience to students attending the Ludlow College Travel and Tourism Course,” said Terry Jones.
