The Annual Musical
Each year, as part of both Enrichment and A Level Drama and Theatre Studies, students produce and perform in a major musical theatre show. Previous shows have included We Will Rock You, Cabaret and Sweet Charity, all with their own big numbers and dance routines.
This year’s show was a production of Anything Goes, the classic 1930s romantic comedy set on a transatlantic liner from New York to England.
Anything Goes combines some of the most iconic showpieces and songs in musical theatre, such as Anything Goes itself and I Get a Kick Out of You, with some timeless humour from the original story by PG Wodehouse, creator of the immortal Jeeves and Wooster novels.
“It has been a great pleasure working with such a talented cast to bring this terrific script to life,” said director Duncan Thomas. “Well, what a lovely cast they are both on and off stage!” commented choreographer Carly Adams. “We have looked at a variety of styles and scenarios to reflect life on board a liner. This is the first time we have had majority of male ensemble and they have really embraced the challenge and created chorus numbers to be proud of!” (Photos to follow soon)
