This course is an introductory series of workshops where you will learn the skills and techniques required to transform drawings into hand-made prints. Throughout the course you will develop your drawing skills, raise your confidence in using traditional printmaking techniques such as Mono printing, Lino printing and Dry-point etching, and have a guided experience that explores elements of line, colour and composition. You'll create a portfolio of drawings and prints and gain enough hands-on experience to make amazing creations of your own at home.
This course is suitable for all abilities, no previous art experience is needed, It is aimed at both beginner printmakers and those with some knowledge but wanting to explore a different aspect of printmaking or art.
By the end of the course you can expect to be able to do the following:
- Draw from observation using a variety of drawing techniques
- Plan a print composition
- Understand all forms of mono-printing
- Design and cut a lino print
- Etch and print a Dry-point plate
You will need an apron/overall and any basic drawing materials that you already own (pencils/sketchbook).
Your tutor will supply paper and print-making tools and equipment.
