Qualification
OCR GCSE Maths
- Maximum grade 5 if Foundation Tier is attempted
- Maximum grade 9 if Higher Tier assessment is attempted
Course Content
The course is for those who require a grade 4-5 (grade C in the old spec) for progression onto vocational courses, higher education courses or for employment purposes.
This course will help you to improve on the areas you find the most difficult; building your confidence as well as your understanding and skills.
The course lasts for one year, with 2 hours of study every week from September to June. Extra time outside of class will also be required for homework.
Entry Requirements
- Grade D/3 at GCSE or a recent Functional Skills Level 1 or 2 in Maths
- You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for this subject area
Assessment
The examinations contain three separate exam papers, set on different days:
- Paper 1 – Non-calculator
- Paper 2 – Calculator
- Paper 3 – Problem Solving
Progression
The course will enable prospective students to gain vital mathematical skills.
GCSE Maths is considered essential by most employers and University Admissions tutors. Progress onto higher level vocational courses, A levels (dependent on other GCSE qualifications), Higher Education courses (dependent on other qualifications), employment that requires good reading and written skills and any other employment.
