Students Sail to Show Success!
Ludlow College students made a triumphant return to our own Drama Studio with this year’s musical theatre production of Cole Porter’s, Anything Goes from Thursday 23rd to Saturday 25th March.
The cast of 22 comprised students taking a wide range of A level and BTEC courses as well as Drama Students. As Matt Sole, who played Moonface, commented, “Watching different year groups, personalities and people from all three campuses come together, have fun and make things run smoothly has been great.” The audiences certainly had fun too: Ewart Carson, a veteran of a decade of College shows, commented that this was “One of the best musicals we’ve seen over the past ten years; and certainly the best sung;” others felt that, overall, it was definitely our best effort yet. “A triumph of talent and exhilarating exuberance,” pronounced Ian Barge; “sharply choreographed, beautifully lit, irresistibly sung and acted.”
Onstage students were supported by student musicians (alongside staff!) in the live band, and a backstage student team including ex-student Izzy Farr, who used the show for work experience on her Cardiff Met University management course. Meanwhile our own catering students, supported by staff Mandy Brick and Mark Johnson, provided the delicious interval nibbles and drinks.
No less than 15 of the 22 are back next year and eager to stretch to new heights; so book early for their return in 2018!
